The original TRRS configuration was created by Nokia (OMTP) and the pin connections are sequenced: Left Audio, Right Audio, Mic, Ground. 2. Apple (CTIA) has pin connection sequenced: Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground, Mic. Further Apple has patented its TRRS with online resistance to work only with Apple products. 3. PC Headset : Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground Microphone SignatureAcousticsTM 3.5mm to 3.5mm TRRS adapter reverses the microphone and ground pins. Thus making compatibility between CTIA and OMTP and vice versa (Nokia to Apple and vice versa). This enables Apple headsets to work with many Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and Samsung phones they previously did not work with; however specific remote and mic compatibility is dependent on the actual phone.
